I have created this blog to track the progress of the construction of my PRR Chautauqua Branch HO scale model railroad. This will be my second layout of the Chautauqua Branch. The previous layout spanned 21 years of operation before being dismantled prior to move to a new house with a larger basement.
Below is a link to a You Tube video of my old layout. This was filed by Rob Bennett and posted on his You Tube Channel.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j-AZnp9ksnQ&t=196s
The new layout will be multi-level. Below is one of the possible plans.
The drawings above were done by Dick B. from NMRA MCR Div.12
" larger basement"
ReplyDeleteThe old basement was basically a rectangle 30x22ft ≈ about 724sqft. The ceiling was normal '50 height ≈ 80" with heating ducts.
The new basement is 'L' shaped 44x27ft minus a 26x14 rectangle ≈ about 765sqft. The ceiling is higher probably ≈ 100" with heating ducts.
The old basement had all the typical basement stuff in the way + a laundry space which was under the RR.
The new basement has only the wall mounted on demand water heater and an inconveniently located doorway. A big problem is that the 'short' dimensions are ≈ 14' which doesn't accommodate 2 32" radius blobs and > 30" aisles.
